Safari in Gochon

1) Basic Info

- Location: Gochon-eup Gimpo-si Gyeonggi-do

If you hear “Gimpo”, you will probably think its somewhere in the province Gyeonggi-do about an hour away from Seoul by public transportation. However, it actually takes just a 10-min walk to get to Seoul from here, so it is actually part of the Seoul metropolitan area. Its a place that Gyeonggi-do people don’t consider part of their province. Most parts of the city are designated as a greenbelt zone so the actual town feels small. This suits the name “Gochon”, which means “remote village”, but the residents here are somehow so proud that they are close enough to being Seoul-people but yet still members of Gyeonggi-do. Either it’s Gyeonggi-do or Gochon, the important thing is that there are mysterious creatures living in the area.

- Living things: 6

If the details of each creature are revealed, the narrator can be in danger so let’s skip the introduction about each creature. You can find some information from the “Main Attraction” chapter.

 - Size: It is large enough to create harmony between plants and lights. The hiding space for each creature is more important than the actual size of the safari.

 - History: This neighborhood is the background of the Korean classic TV drama called “Love hanging on a Jujube Tree”. This apartment was originally built in 1988 and it’s been renovated for this current occupant. The human in the place paid for the renovation but she couldn’t see her future living in the horror of the mysterious safari.

 - Important memorial days: Mid-year, June is a month for a party for humans. There’s a rumor that it is a ritual with human sacrifice, which is wrong, so the person who spread the rumor is advised to confess.

 - Additional information: There’s a big firework show going on near the apartment. The living room expanded to the space that was originally a veranda provides the perfect spot to see it. It’s for free! The show has been on hold recently due to the Covid-19 situation, but rumor has it that it will soon resume. There’s a chance that it will stop again. The human in the safari loves fireworks so she leaves the safari and enjoys the entertainment every Saturday.

2) Main Attractions

You should be careful of the creatures in the safari. There’s no way you can be a friend with them but there are so many ways that you can’t get along with them. First of all, please don’t think that you can win them over. Don’t be fooled by their cute paws.

The human in the safari can give you advice to prevent putting your life in danger; be careful of the creature which is about 11 years old - about 80 years old in human age-. Don’t look at it, don’t go close to it and don’t touch it. Instead, you should accept anything that it does when it comes to you. If it hits you, then you should be hit by it. You should seriously buy a lottery ticket, if it bows to you while making cute sounds. It means you are that lucky.

This must be the biggest creature you’ve ever seen in your life.

It enjoys cooking for a hobby these days.

But there’s nothing it can cook.

It enjoys meddling with everything at the sculpture which is full of books.

The 11-year-old living thing is the same. It considers itself like a CCTV.

Now, another CCTV is waiting for its turn.

There are not only scary creatures in the safari- but also a living thing that especially loves art in a Renaissance style. It usually appears in the space where the light and shadow are harmonized. The visitors are advised not to touch its butt. Otherwise, you will see yourself become a modern Sisyphus; you will have to pat the butt endlessly. Maybe until you die.

This buddy also has much interest in the outer world.

And the youngest creature is interested in that. Don’t be scared when it stares you like this.

Making eye-contact with it can be dangerous, especially to your heart. The cute face will melt your heart.

If you find a creature looking at you with a gentle gaze, yes, that is the youngest one.

The gentle gaze can be contagious. There’s something profound about it.

If the creatures are not around in the evening after peaceful daytime is gone,

you will witness an accident. The peace in the safari usually doesn’t last long.

If you want to comfort them, show them their tribe appearing in media. Maybe because the living things in the safari live with a suppressed wild instinct, they are really interested in the world outside the residence. Actual travel is not possible but it will be good to make them feel like travel can be possible by providing the tunnel to it. Of course you will also have to be responsible for the result of the fakeness.

If you can find any other ways, here is a secret tip; put a box around them. Size doesn’t matter.

The only way you can gather all the creatures in one place is…..

is....

...feeding them.

Sometimes, the creature that is reported to be extinct appears in the safari. It’s a rare scene so you should pay extra attention when you see it. If you reveal the fact that you saw it…

You can’t guarantee the creature will survive. RIP…

At about 10:05pm, it’s the peaceful time in the safari. If anyone finds anything odd in this photo, you’re allowed to move to the next chapter.

3) Additional Things to See

There was a big change recently in the safari that was comparatively peaceful.

?
?

This thing, disguising himself with the 90’s superstar Ninja Turtle outfit, is the smallest but you need to be especially careful of it.

Because it’s super cute. Nothing else.

For humans, the relation between the creatures are everlasting mystery. You will never be able to solve it.

Who has the ultimate power to control them? The safari is more and more of a mystery.

Lastly, be careful of the eyes looking at you.

If you make eye-contact with them, you will have a stranger visiting you regularly once a week.
