1) Basic Info
- Location: Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Korea
In the center of Seoul, it’s located under Namsan with 3-minute walk from either Yongsan Library or Namsan Library. It is between Seoul station and Namyeong station, so it’s always tricky to choose which station to go.
- Population: 1 (a 27-year-old woman)
- Size: About 26 square meters
- Language: Korean (but not much spoken)
- History: In March 2020, the 27-year-old woman’s rental contract for her previous house was over but she wasn’t ready for house hunting. She consulted her friend whose mother was a realtor. Then she was advised to look around for 1 or 2 days and decide as soon as possible since one-room studio apartments are anyway all the same. 3 days after she started to look around, she finally found this place. There were 3 conditions in her mind when it comes to the house she wanted to live in; first, it should be around Haebangchon, second, it should be cheap, and third, it should be as soundproof as possible. This house didn’t really meet any of these conditions but lucky enough to be chosen by her. She actually doesn’t care much about the house and just considers it as a geographic point for delivery food or some kind of box to lay down her body. Maybe this is why the house is such a mess, she thinks. She started to go to work to Gangnam area from April 1st and has been on a continuous loop of coming and going between work and home. Her smartphone is inseparable from her on the weekends.
- Important memorial days: Every Friday night, after work. She is actively doing nothing, taking a rest as voraciously as she can.
- Additional Information: You can make your own <Indiana Jones> film with the ants in the house; they never go away. She found out her landlord is actually living upstairs after she moved in and she tries her best to avoid him. It is a better situation than the previous house where she could hear her neighbor snoring but in this house, one of upstairs neighbors’ footsteps which sound like hammering wake her up in early mornings. When she looked for the electric and gas meters outside, she could hear hymns from upstairs. This house is a half-basement and people can look inside easily from outside. When she hears something outside the window, she starts to think of ways to survive from an invader’s attack.
2) Main Attractions / Things to enjoy

The hammer is for the “Oh Dae-soo” game in case a murderer or a rapist breaks into the house. (You can find the game tutorial in the hammer-fighting scene from the film <Oldboy>

The collection of cheap perfumes and body mists. Sometimes, scent records our past more precisely than journals and it brings the memory to us in amazing and interesting ways. She gets them from the most popular online second-hand market. In the deals through the website, it’s possible not to buy after checking the scent.
- Cafe
“Would you like to drink a cup of coffee with this sister?”
They were purchased for creating sensitive atmosphere but in reality, they only get in the way. The highlight is that they don’t match the house at all.
- The Comforting Spot

The most humane thing you can do in this house is crying. This is a good spot for wailing. When you turn on the boiler, it is the spot that gets warmest. When you feel sad, if it’s cold then you will feel even sadder. You can feel stable here when you lean your back against the wall. Take a hot shower, have some sweets, smell some good scents and fall asleep while thinking about a cute friend of yours, then you will get up next morning refreshed. This tip that she’s learned from one of her part-time co-worker friends works well.
